New Year’s Eve at the Legion: A Night to Remember

The Team Behind the Magic

An event of this scale doesn’t just happen — it’s built by the dedication, creativity, and sheer hard work of an exceptional group of people. As a member, I am proud of our volunteers, executive, and leadership team, led by John Sharpe and the entire Board... they deserve a tremendous amount of credit for making New Year’s Eve such a standout success.

From transforming the hall into a festive, welcoming space — a major undertaking on its own — to coordinating meal prep, ticket sales, setup, staffing, and logistics, this team worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly. Their attention to detail and commitment to creating a memorable night for our community were evident in every corner of the room.

A Night to Remember

As we walked into the hall and other guests began to arrive, it quickly became clear that this New Year’s Eve would be one for the books. With approximately 140 people in attendance, the Legion was transformed into a warm, lively, and beautifully energized space — the perfect setting to close out the year together.

The atmosphere hit its stride early thanks to Little Lake, our live band for the evening. They kept the room buzzing with great music, and the dance floor never stayed empty for long. Whether it was classic favourites or upbeat crowd‑pleasers, the band had everyone moving, laughing, and soaking in the moment.

Of course, no celebration is complete without good food, and the spread did not disappoint. As guests, we enjoyed a generous selection of sandwiches, meatballs, cheese, veggies, meats, and desserts — the kind of comfort‑food lineup that fuels a long night of dancing and socializing.

Countdowns and Hockey - A True Canadian Combo

And because it wouldn’t be a Canadian New Year’s Eve without it, the TVs were put to good use:

  • One screen carried the live countdown all night long

  • The other? Naturally, it was tuned to the hockey game (Spoiler Alert Canada won!)

Community Spirit at Its Best

New Year’s Eve reminded us once again why the Legion is such an important gathering place. It’s where people come together — to celebrate, to connect, to share traditions, and to build new memories. It was the perfect blend of tradition, entertainment, and community — a room full of people celebrating in their own ways, yet all together.

Looking Ahead to an Exciting Year

As we step into a new year, the energy and spirit we felt throughout the month of December are just the beginning. With new members (like myself) joining our Legion family and long‑time members continuing to support and strengthen our community, 2026 is shaping up to be an exciting year.

We’re looking forward to:

  • Fresh events and social gatherings

  • New opportunities to volunteer and get involved

  • Strengthening our connection with veterans and the broader community

  • Continuing to build a welcoming, inclusive space for everyone who walks through our doors

Here’s to a year filled with connection, celebration, and community spirit.
