The View From 187 - Presidential Reflections December 2025

As we welcome a new year at Branch 187, I want to take a moment to reflect on what was truly an outstanding December — a month that showcased the strength, generosity, and spirit of our Legion community.

December is always a busy time at the branch (and for our volunteers), and this year was no exception. Our regular activities — cornhole, pool, darts, and the Saturday Meat Draws (to name a few)— continued to

draw great crowds and create the kind of camaraderie that makes our Legion such a special place. These events do more than fill the calendar; they provide the ongoing support that keeps our branch strong and able to give back.

One of the highlights of the season was our participation in the Christmas Hamper Program, an initiative that brings comfort and dignity to families in need during the holidays. Thanks to the generosity of our members and the hard work of our volunteers, we were able to contribute meaningfully to this important community effort. It’s a reminder of what the Legion stands for — service, compassion, and community support.

At our General Members Meeting, I was proud to see strong support for several important decisions. Members approved $4,000 in donations to various community events and initiatives — a clear demonstration of our commitment to giving back and staying connected to the people we serve.

Members also approved a much‑needed 15K investment inside our own walls: a kitchen cupboard renovation that had been long overdue. This upgrade will benefit our volunteers, event organizers, and members for years to come, improving both functionality and the overall experience in one of the most frequently used spaces in the branch. Your support for this project shows how deeply our members care about the future of Branch 187.

And of course, we ended the month — and the year — with an unforgettable New Year’s Eve celebration. A packed house, live music, dancing, great food, and a room full of joy made it a night to remember. It was the perfect way to close out a successful calendar year and step confidently into the next.

As we look ahead, I’m filled with optimism. December reminded us of what we can accomplish when we work together — members, volunteers, staff, and leadership all pulling in the same direction. Thank you for your continued support, your participation, and your belief in what our Legion can be.

Here’s to a meaningful and exciting year ahead.
